Today Juniors took the ACT and we were missing quite a few of our students. We don't want to get ahead of them, so today was a chill day. We did makeup work, a crossword, a cell labeling, and watched Osmosis Jones.

Today we learned about special adaptations that unicellular Protists have. They are eukaryotic, but only have one cell that has to do all of the functions. We did Draw with me notes, a stations activity, vocabulary, and a Protist coloring.
Today we talked about specialized cells and stem cells. We took notes, we did a Venn Diagram comparing stem cells to adult cells, and we did a graphic organizer where we sketched and labeled the 6 specialized cells we talked about in class.
Today we finished up organelles with a Cell Analogy project where you create your own analogy to compare cells to. Then we finished the cell coloring an labeling, did a card sort, then worked on our cloud packet.

Today we took notes on Microscopes and did a microscope lab. Please schedule a time to make up that lab sometime this week with Mrs. Ruby! After the lab, we worked on Prokaryote vs. Eukaryote Vocabulary which is due tomorrow 2/21/17. We will start a new unit tomorrow!
Today we reviewed structure of DNA and DNA replication. Then we took the short quiz! After the quiz we did a microscope labeling foldable! Monday we will do a Microscope lab and Vocabulary for the next unit! Make sure to schedule a time with Mrs. Ruby during A-Lunch or after school to make up the quiz.
Today we built our class set of DNA by taping our individual Nucleotides together to form one long strand of DNA. Then we did a lab where we extracted the DNA out of a Strawberry! It was super cool. Sorry you missed it! Tomorrow is the Quiz! Be sure that you can label the parts of DNA and the steps of DNA Replication.
Today is an early release day and extended homeroom! So class was super short. We did Draw with Me notes on DNA Replication and then did yet another coloring activity. If you didn't finish the Replication Coloring in class, then it was homework. Tomorrow we will be doing a lab!
